Dyson is officially getting into oral care. The brand has launched the Dyson CameraJet, its first electric toothbrush, and it comes with something you probably would not expect to find inside your toothbrush: a camera.
Priced at $699 in Singapore, the CameraJet combines an electric toothbrush, precision flosser and intraoral camera in one device, with technology designed to identify the gaps between your teeth as you brush.
It actually sees where you need to floss
At the centre of the CameraJet is a 100,000-pixel macro lens camera powered by Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting technology. It analyses 28 images per second to identify the spaces between your teeth before automatically directing a small jet of mouth rinse into them.
The toothbrush can be used in three cleaning modes, letting you brush and floss simultaneously or use either function on its own. There are also Gentle, Variable and Deep Clean brushing intensities, while onboard sensors alert you if you are applying too much pressure or using the wrong technique.
In other words, Dyson is trying to turn brushing and flossing into one routine rather than two separate steps.
You can watch yourself brush in real time
The camera is not only there to control the flosser. Connect the CameraJet to the MyDyson app and you can view live footage from inside your mouth while brushing.
The app also provides guided cleaning, coverage mapping and personalised insights, showing which areas you have cleaned and where you may have missed. Dyson says images from the camera are not recorded or stored on the toothbrush or in the cloud.
Even the brush head is connected. Built-in RFID tracks wear and lets you know when it is time for a replacement.
Dyson has made its own toothpaste and mouth rinse too
The CameraJet forms part of a wider Dyson Dental System, which includes specially formulated non-foaming toothpaste and low-foaming mouth rinse. The reduced foam is designed to keep the camera’s view clear enough to accurately detect gaps between teeth.
The S$699 set comes with the CameraJet toothbrush, dual-bristle brush heads, refill and charging dock, travel case, toothpaste and mouth rinse. It is available in Ceramic Pink and Ceramic Ultra Blue.
Replacement toothpaste and mouth rinse are priced from $15 each, while the sensitive Peppermint toothpaste costs $18.
