Tucked away along Netheravon Road, The Coastal Settlement is the kind of place that feels removed from Singapore’s usual dining crowd. Surrounded by greenery and filled with vintage memorabilia, the restaurant brings together old-school charm, an extensive menu and a spacious outdoor dining area where dogs are welcome too.
A dining spot with a piece of Changi’s past

The nostalgic character isn’t purely decorative. Before becoming The Coastal Settlement, the building was part of the former Changi military base and was once used by Britain’s Royal Air Force as a fault-control office and telephone exchange.

Today, traces of the past have become part of the restaurant’s identity. Vintage vehicles sit among the greenery outside, while the interiors are packed with antique furniture, old radios, typewriters and other memorabilia. The eclectic collection continues indoors, where everything from a piano and drum set to old furnishings gives the space an almost lived-in quality rather than the polished uniformity of a typical cafe.
The outdoor areas feel noticeably different. Rattan chairs, hanging lamps and plenty of surrounding greenery make the alfresco section a much calmer setting for a long meal, particularly if you’re visiting with a dog.
Pet-friendly dining in Changi

Dogs are welcomed at The Coastal Settlement’s outdoor dining areas, which was where we settled in for brunch.
There’s plenty of space between the greenery and tables, and the covered sections also mean you don’t necessarily have to sit directly under the sun. For pet owners looking for somewhere that feels more like a proper restaurant than a quick café stop, it’s an easy place to spend a slower afternoon.
What we had for brunch
Weekend and public-holiday brunch runs from 9am to 5pm, with a fairly extensive menu covering breakfast plates, burgers, pasta, local favourites, pizzas and sharing dishes. The restaurant switches to its à la carte menu from 5.30pm, while weekdays run on the à la carte menu instead, so The Coastal Settlement isn’t limited to brunch visits.

We kept things firmly in breakfast territory with the Settlement’s Big Breakfast ($28) and Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict ($26).

The Settlement’s Big Breakfast comes with creamed mushrooms, maple-glazed bacon, tater tots, chicken cheese sausage, cherry tomatoes, mesclun salad and sourdough toast with mixed-berries butter. It’s a generous, familiar breakfast plate, with a little bit of everything.

The Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict takes a less conventional route. Instead of the usual English muffin, barbecue-braised pulled pork, poached eggs, hollandaise, Granny Smith apple and coleslaw are stacked onto a croissant. The croissant makes the dish richer and more substantial, while the apple and coleslaw bring some freshness against the pulled pork and hollandaise.
Between the old Changi building, vintage collectibles, dense greenery and pet-friendly alfresco tables, there’s enough character here to make a meal feel less like another cafe stop and more like spending a few hours somewhere slightly removed from the rest of Singapore.
And if your weekend plans happen to include a dog, they don’t have to sit this one out.
