This year’s National Day Parade is coming up and for the first time in a decade, the show returns to the National Stadium, complete with a first-ever indoor drone light show and fireworks lighting up the Kallang skyline from around 7.30pm on Sunday, 9 August.

2. The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia
This is the hotel Singaporeans have long associated with fireworks-watching in style, thanks to its famous octagonal bathtub windows facing the water. What’s less well known: the Kallang precinct-facing rooms – the ones with the fireworks in full view, are actually the more affordable category here, versus the pricier Marina Bay-facing rooms.

3. Andaz Singapore
Occupying floors 25 to 39 of DUO Tower in Bugis, Andaz’s upper floors put you well above the rooftops of the city, and its rooftop bar Mr Stork, on the 39th storey, is one of the best open-air spots in town to catch the fireworks.
For an in-room view, request a high-floor room facing the Kallang direction; for the full open-air experience, head up to Mr Stork, open Sunday to Thursday from 5pm to 12am and Friday to Saturday from 5pm to 1am, with bites from S$25. Expect the bar to get busy on the night itself, so an early reservation is recommended.

4. Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong
The most laid-back pick on this list – this boutique hotel in the Peranakan heartland of Katong, about 18 minutes from the Kallang precinct, has a standout 16th-floor rooftop infinity pool that gives an open, breezy, unobstructed view of the skyline, and on fireworks nights, of the pyrotechnics too.
Rooms start from around S$294* a night, making it one of the better-value stays on this list.
