10-16 August: Things to Do in Singapore This Week

Choibusu Shopping Arcade at Heartware Store & Gallery in Singapore, with retro sushi-shop signage, handmade keychains and a giant thumbs-up character sculpture on display.

The week brings a mix of interesting activites: a Japanese keychain artist’s debut show in Joo Chiat, a rooftop birthday party in Somerset, a maker’s market in Chinatown, and two back-to-back weekend fairs at Suntec that cover outdoor gear and anime merch. Here are 5 events worth checking out this week.

Choibusu Shopping Arcade

Japanese keychain artist Choibusu makes her Singapore debut at Heartware Store & Gallery, turning the space into a retro-style shopping arcade. The showcase brings together 500 handmade “ugly-cute” keychains and 16 hand-painted vintage bags, all in her signature wobbly, imperfect style, think grumpy uncles and Singapore-inspired charms rather than anything polished. Interactive touches include a Past Life Machine that assigns visitors a keychain persona, and a limited-edition rolling sushi blind box made in collaboration with Japanese toy maker Hirokawa Co., Ltd.

When: 7 Aug-13 Sep 2026, 12pm-7pm daily
